Aerospace & Defence Acceleration Fund

The Aerospace & Defence Acceleration Fund is an elite enterprise development and investment initiative co-orchestrated by IIMA Ventures (the startup incubator and venture arm of IIM Ahmedabad) and Jaivel Aerospace (a global aerospace design and advanced manufacturing technology company).

Rather than functioning as a standard financial investment fund, this initiative operates as a highly verticalized acceleration engine. It is specifically designed to de-risk the "0-to-1" journey for deep-tech hardware, space-tech, and defense startups. It provides direct access to international manufacturing infrastructure and solves for capital, coaching, and market connectivity.

The acceleration fund targets building a tight, elite portfolio of 8 to 10 high-impact companies. It focuses on enabling breakthrough innovations that enhance self-reliance, national defense capabilities, and export competitiveness.

Key Program Benefits:

• Substantial Early Capital: Selected startups receive up to $400,000 USD in Pre-Seed or Seed funding.

• Corporate Structure: Unlike typical VC funds, this fund is not structured as an Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). It utilizes direct balance sheet capital from IIMA Ventures and Jaivel Aerospace, investing through standard early-stage equity or equity-linked instruments.

• Advanced Manufacturing Access: Startups gain direct, hands-on access to Jaivel Aerospace’s global design, engineering, and precision production facilities to transition prototypes into market-ready products.

• Elite Technical Mentorship: 1-on-1 operational coaching from industry scientists, deep-tech veterans, and global leaders specializing in aviation engineering and systems deployment.

• Commercialization & Pilots: Direct matchmaking pipelines into specialized defense networks, industry partnerships, and immediate pilot deployment pipelines to minimize overall time-to-market.

The fund explicitly targets deep-tech and dual-use innovations across several foundational strategic sectors:

• Autonomy & Intelligent Systems: Autonomous drones, unmanned systems, and real-world software components for deep spatial awareness.

• Advanced Materials & Manufacturing: High-performance compounds, novel structural materials, additive manufacturing, and high-reliability aerospace component tooling.

• Propulsion & Space-Tech: Next-generation engine architectures, thermal dynamics, and subsystems optimized for satellite, sub-orbital, or deep-space performance.

• Secure Communications & Strategic Systems: Encrypted localized wireless systems, resilient data transmission links, high-reliability defense electronics, and advanced sensor hardware grids.

• Ideal Maturity: Specifically designed for early-stage innovators at the Pre-Seed or Seed stage.

• Institutional Threshold: Ideal for technical founders looking to secure their very first institutional check. Startups should have a clear product direction and a functional prototype or proof-of-concept ready for manufacturing scaling.

2. Corporate & Regional Alignment

• Incorporation: Startups must be legally registered as a business entity in India, or be actively in the process of incorporating an Indian entity.

• Dual-Use Profile: The underlying technology stack must demonstrate dual-use potential (civilian and military applications), significant potential for export scale, and a measurable national impact footprint.
